Great Escape Events - Bike / Run Event Race-Day Info
Courses
We're proud to offer courses that accommodate all levels of riders. To see your course, visit our website: https://www.royalgorgewhitewaterfestival.com/land-events.html You can see detailed directions through the Trailforks links listed for each course. Courses are open to the public for pre-riding throughout the week.
Ebikes
While we do love a good e-bike ride now and then, please do not bring your e-bike to participate in this event. Our course land managers do not allow them, so we can't either. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. For adaptive options or questions, please contact [email protected]
Parking
Parking gets really tight during the festival, but luckily you'll be there early in the morning! You can park in the lot on the north side of the river and walk across the pedestrian bridge, or park at Veteran's Park.
T-Shirts
Participants who pre-ordered a t-shirt or tank will also be able to pick that up at packet pickup. Some additional shirts (limited availability, first-come, first-served) will be available for purchase on the day of or at packet pickup for $25.
Packet Pickup
Packet Pickup is on Friday, July 18th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Centennial Park in Cañon City. Just let the front gate folks know that you're coming to pick up your race packet and you'll get in for free. There are great bands playing that evening, so come and hang out with us! You may also pick up your packet on Saturday morning starting at 7:00 a.m. at the starting line (north west corner of the park).
Aid Stations
We’ll have aid stations throughout the events that will be accessible for the various routes. There will be one at the 5K turnaround (which 10K runners / bikers will also see twice). Supplies will include basic aid, snacks and water.
Festival Schedule
Hang out after the land events for the awards ceremony and the start of the water events. Live bands will be playing at the festival all day. View event schedule here. We'll do preliminary and age group (remember that there are only "18 and under" and "adult" category awards, not every 10 years like most races) as soon as possible after the events, but if you're an overall winner, join us at about 8:30/9:00 on the Main Stage to get your BIG award!
Be Prepared
Here are a few items that would be a good idea to bring: Water, sunscreen, basic tire repair kit (MTB events), helmet (MTB events), gloves (MTB events), Mountain Bike in good working condition, running shoes. We are hoping for a nice 86-degree day, but be sure to STAY HYDRATED before and during the event.
Race Day Schedule
All events start and end at the northwest corner of Centennial Park in Cañon City (near the big pavilion). Parking can be found at Veteran's Park (off Hwy 50) and on the north side of the river. (Take the pedestrian bridge over the river and come find us at the northwest corner of the park near the boat ramp. )
It’s a good idea to show up between 15 (if you've already picked up your packet) and 30 minutes early (if you still need to get your packet) for your event, to just get your bearings and familiar with the event layout. This event garners about 50 people per race, so it's not huge and you will NOT have to arrive super early.

5:30-7:30 pm - Packet pickup at Centennial park
Saturday:
7:45 am - 10K Trail Run Start
7:45 am - 5K Trail Run Start (right after the 10K runners)
