Down River Raft Race

This challenging downriver race will begin at the Royal Gorge Rafting Boat Launch in Parkdale on Friday, June 21st at 6:30 pm.  The Arkansas River will most likely be at high water through the Royal Gorge.  You can have up to six participants on your raft as you navigate Sunshine Falls, Sledgehammer, The Narrows, Boat Eater, and Wall Slammer just to name a few.  The race will begin with a shotgun start in Parkdale and conclude ten miles later at the beautiful Royal Gorge Whitewater Park.  There will be a crowd on hand at the finish line.  Prizes, including cash, will be awarded for the top teams and each participant will receive a T-Shirt.  This event is sponsored by Whitewater Bar & Grill.

 

**This race will be held in conjunction with the “Peddle, Paddle, Battle” competition with the cyclists.  This event is being coordinated with the FAR Committee.

Race Distance: 10 miles
Qualifications: Must have experience in Class IV – V rapids at high water, 18 years and older
Number of Participants: Up to six(6) on each boat
Cost: $125 per boat by June 17th, $150 from June 18th until race day
